CLP files can commonly be found in the AVCHD/BDMV/CLIPINF directory of the HD digital camera recording media.

The AVCHD video format was developed jointly by Sony and Panasonic and first released on the Sony Handycam HDR-UX1 digital camcorder in 2006.
